About me
I hold a Master’s Degree in Translation, having graduated from what was then called the “Provinciale Hogeschool voor Vertalers en Tolken” (Ghent University, Belgium) in 1993.
Before starting out as a freelance translator, I spent several years working as an in-house translator, working for a global company that supplies the auction industry. The company develops software and hardware systems, and my responsibilities included translating manuals, correspondence, quotes, analyses and newsletters.
In my work, I use advanced technological translation tools, like translation memories and terminology programs, in order to ensure that all of your texts are translated in the same style and that your company-specific terminology is used consistently. I also use industry-specific dictionaries and reference websites.
I like leveraging new tools and technology, including machine translation and AI, in cases where they support and benefit the translation workflow. If machines do some of the basic tasks and I add my expertise as a Master in Translation Studies and 30 years experience of translating and proofreading, together we can achieve great results.
I enjoy actively participating on social networks and industry-specific forums for translators that allow me to share my knowledge and experience with others. From time to time, I’ll write articles with tips and tricks for my fellow translators.
I love being creative about language, and have written several scripts for musical theater. Two of these musicals have since been performed on-stage.
I look forward to hearing from you!
